What do you prefer: intuition or logic? Remember the original Star Trek series? There was a show episode entitled Obsession, where we find a memorial quote from Captain Kirk: “Intuition, however illogical, Mr. Spock, is recognized as a command prerogative.” How do you think poor Spock – the Vulcan Aristotle of logic – felt? In the Wiki online encyclopedia articles, intuition is discussed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intuition, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intuition_(knowledge). Logic is discussed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logic. Some say that intuition is just the logical churning of the subconscious, working on its logical formulations.
Here is a “hypothetical” case. Suppose someone mentioned my mom was born with the gift of prophecy. In the Christian faith, she has a gift from the Holy Spirit. In terms of the secular work, she would be considered a psychic. Suppose she predicted who the next president would be, and had a knack for being right? What would I do with this knowledge? I would probably be quiet, and not say anything, until after the election. So is she just following the skills of logic, to a degree, most people don’t follow? Or is she really using intuition? This is a good question, for a “hypothetical” case.
